Is graphite iron a lot different than a steel one? ?

I am a female golf beginner. I have read some opinion about graphite shaft is better than steel for women. However, I also heard about graphite club could mass up with your distances if you are swinging with good posture. Since I am new in this game, I want to learn it right at the beginning. If you can help me figuring it out which kind of iron should I get? Steel or graphite? Thanks for your answer.

For a female beginner golfer graphite would be better for you. Graphite shafts are lighter, allowing you to generate more club head speed so your ball will get airborne, and they can be made to be much whippier than steel, again imparting more energy to the swing/ball strike.

Better players prefer steel shafts as there is more uniformity from shaft to shaft and they provide better feel, but you need to have developed a faster swing speed before you can use them. I would suspect that a large majority of amateur woman golfers would not be able to swing fast enough to gain benefit from steel shafts.
