I took a club to be re-shafted and they said they cut the flex into the shaft?

I was getting a grafalloy shaft put in. I thought you just bought a regular or stiff flex shaft, but the clubmaker says he cuts the shaft to be whatever flex he wants. Is he right? Anytime I have bought clubs they say stiff or regular on the shaft.

The flex of a club is determined by 2 things - first is obviously the stiffness of the shaft. However, the weight of the head also contributes. Let's use iron shafts as the example, although the same principle applies to most wood shafts. Most raw iron shafts are manufactured to one length, about 40 inches. The outer diameter starts at around .600 inches at the butt (grip) end and tapers to .370 inches at the tip (head) end, with the last several inches of shaft measuring .370".

Now, each iron head is heavier than the next longer one - 7 heavier than 6, 6 heavier than 5, etc. To get the same flex for each club, you must cut an extra amount off of the tip of each shaft, based on the shaft manufacturers reccomendations. Then you cut from the butt end to get the length of the club you want.

Experienced clubmakers are usually able to change the amount cut from the tip to change the final flex of the club. To make the club stiffer or more flexible, trim the tip more or less than the reccomendations. I've done this with most of the clubs in my bag. This is a common practice, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

1) No, because he will forever be regarded as a coach that took a team of talented players to where they should have been all along.

Deal with it people, Babcock is a GREAT coach. He took the 2003 Mighty Ducks to within a game of the Stanley Cup..........and that team didn't belong there. There are 8 players on the current roster who were on the 2002 Red Wing roster. Only Lidstrom is left over from the top 10 in scoring (Holmstrom was 11th, Chelios 13th, Datsyuk 14th, Draper, Maltby, McCarty, and Hasek were worse). Babcock has doine an amazing job in developing Kronwall, Franzen, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Samuelsson, etc into NHL stars.

4) Nope. Unfortunately a lot of press has already cast Detroit as a foregone conclusion as Cup champions.

In the last 3 years Devallano has fired several scouts for lack of performance and keeps claiming that Datsyuk and Zetterberg were more luck than good scouting (and most scouting staffs will agree). Currently, it is the Pittsburgh Penguins, Phoenix Coyotes, and Chicago Black Hawks that teams are eyeing right now. The problem is............people fail to realize that Detroit hasn't had a decent first round draft pick in almost 20 years (and I think Devallano has over-reacted) and that Pittsburgh, Washington, Phoenix, and Chicago endured several seasons at the bottom of the NHL.

7) Good question. I think 'losing' Hasek, Chelios, and McCarty will vastly improve the speed of this team and make them better.

No. There are a lot of people who still feel that Devallano pulls the strings, and when he gets interviewed, he gives that impression. The Detroit front office is really a 'team' concept with Devallano, Holland, Nill, and Bowman. Unfortunately as good as Holland's record has been, he will always be overshadowed by the legacies of Devallano and Bowman, and now there's a lot of talk of Yzerman one day becoming GM....and everybody says that Devallano isn't going any where. So, where does that leave Holland after the 2011 season when his contract expires? Toronto?

9) Rumour has it he can still out bench anybody in the Red Wings dressing room.

what longboard (skateboard) should i get?

i've been very interested about the Loaded (loadedboards.com) "fish" or the "ceviche" both look pretty similar to me, but the thing is, im not really a skateboard trick person and just wanna use them for transportation. these boards seems to be hybrids of regular short decks and longboards (33inches) opposed to many 42inch/46inch sector9 brands and whatnot.are these 33inch hybrids the right ones for me? and also, i owned a longboard 42inch krown, before but the top part of the deck (where i stand on) was covered with rough black material to prevent slipping off. These boards seem just have a plain bamboo covered tops with graphics. does that mean im more prone to slip off? or do they actually have the rough feel to it as well?

Furthermore, if you look at the back of the box on all the Callaway balls in this series you will see that they also have differing "inner cores" that also make these balls in the series perform differently such as distance, spin and feel around the green... But the main reason to your question about the differing dimples is first and foremost to reduce drag and get more distance...
